THE CONVICTED

Is a story about two childhood friends — Thelonious ‘Shawn’ Searcy and Will Bradford. They grew up in the inner city of Detroit, on Kenmoor Street in the neighborhood of East 6 Mile and Gunston neighborhood. As kids, they were both strong students with grand plans for their future… but they took dramatically different turns as they became young men. Will headed to New York City for a chance to fulfill some pretty big dreams. Shawn didn’t get so lucky. At the age of 24, he was sentenced to life in prison for a murder he did not commit.

THIS IS THE JOURNEY of two friends reuniting. One is in jail fighting for his life, and the other is coming home only to discover that his help is needed to support an old friend and many others in the fight for freedom and to expose the injustices in Wayne County’s criminal justice system. Both are committed to overturning Shawn’s conviction, exposing the stories of other exonerees, and hell bent on uncovering corruption in the Detroit criminal justice system that has seen 24 men exonerated since 2020.
